Good News ---> Bad News (House Update)

One upside to publicly discussing exciting news is that others can share in the joy and excitement.

The downside is that when that exciting news changes for the worst, you have to go back and tell all your friends that something has changed and the news is no longer good.

Today is one of those days where we have to amend previously good news. Yep, our buyer pulled out of the house contract just a few days before due diligence was over. Our realtor has spoken at length with the buyer's agent about the situation. We're all disappointed. Apparently the buyer (a single woman) got cold feet and became increasingly nervous about what responsibilities are associated with being a home owner. Our agent even asked, "If we were to do everything your client wanted us to do, would the deal go through?" The answer was a hesitant, "maybe." That meant (in our agent's eyes and in our eyes) that very little could convince this lady to stick with the deal. Our realtor told the buyer's agent (in as professional of a way as possible) that maybe this woman needs a townhouse or condo if she doesn't want to deal with regular house upkeep. Our home is, afterall, in great shape.

The negatives:
  • The obvious, "yep, we have to find another buyer"
  • Our house was basically off the market for a week and a half (time that could have been used for additional showings)

The positives:

  • Our inspection went well
  • The inspection showed a few minor things that we can fix before the next buyer comes along
  • We are better versed in what can happen in this process (it's not all predictable)

Stay tuned!

That's so disappointing! But I'm sure, somehow, it will turn out better for it in the end... maybe someone will come along and offer you double??

Oh, I think that offer for double is coming in any second! Disappointing, yes. A big big deal, no. It will be nice when the house is sold but we're lucky so mcuh else is going well. Knock on freaking wood.

So frustrating! Good luck with this...you are so positive about it. I would be curled up in a ball in my (townhouse) closet!

Keep a smile on your face. You are so right that you have so much to be thankful for!! I'm sure someone else will come along that actually does belong in your house. Miss you lady!

CarrieAnn and C - yes, frustrating indeed but part of the process. We know we'll be fine some way or another. Chin is up!

Kb_Mal: Blah, this is terribly frustrating I'm sure. Fingers crossed tho that it ends up for the better. It usually does.
